The major difference in Silktools over its standard functioning is the addition of PlanetLab's slice abstraction. The standard behavior and usage of Silktools can be studied on the official website at http://silktools.sf.net. The difference to be noted is that a 'slice' option is now available for use with every tool. This option can be used to filter the results (e.g. specifying -slice 5-20 with rwfilter considers slice numbers 5 through 20) or to aggregate the results. As an example of the latter, specifying -fields=dip,slice aggregates the results by the combination of the destination iP and the slice id. This can be used to get a distribution of the number of IP addresses contacted by each slice participating in a given volume of traffic.
